Niche Social Bookmarking Sites Offer Easy Traffic
On Friday afternoon I wrote a short post on little known WordPress plugins I find useful.
Afterwards, I began thinking about social bookmarking sites that cater to niche audiences as opposed to large, general sites like digg. I did a little looking around and found a site focused on graphic design (both print and web) called Design Float. On a lark, I signed up for an account and submitted my WordPress article. By Saturday morning my post had made it to the front page of Design Float with only a few people “voting” for my site.
The Results
As of the time of this post, my article was still on the front page and has drawn nearly 200 unique visitors to my site. The traffic flow is on a slow decline now but I’m still seeing several visits per hour. The quality of the traffic appears to be very similar to my experience with StumbleUpon, which is more or less what I expected to be honest. Here are the details:
Pages/Visit: 1.14
Avg. Time on Site: 00:00:17
Bounce Rate: 91.48%
My Conclusions
Submitting your posts to niche social bookmarking sites is certainly a winning solution to generating traffic to your site. You need a little help from other users in order to get your links up on the front pages of these sites though. Once you reach that point, you’ll begin seeing a steady amount of new visitors but I wouldn’t expect much repeat traffic or RSS subscribers.
